Preston Press & Charter

PETOSKEY – Earlier this spring, Preston Feather Building Centers and Marvin Windows & Doors hosted a multiple day educational experience to their facility in Warroad Minnesota. The event is targeted for builders, architects and salespeople. Customers and Preston Feather sales personnel who attended include: Dan Gorman and Jerry Davis, Gorman Associates; Dorina Rudd, Design Strategies; James Tarachas – Northern Michigan representative Marvin Windows & Doors; Delwin Slagel and Ben Gingerich, Golden Rule Construction; Scott Naumes and Chris Miller, Maple Ridge Construction, DJ Schaub, North Lakes LLC; and Andy Herman and Kent Strawderman, Window & Door sales, Preston Feather Building Centers.

Marvin is committed to working with dealers such as Preston Feather to provide this experience for builders, architects and sales personnel. The group was picked up from the Pellston Airport on a Marvin plane and taken directly to the Marvin Window Main Plant in Warroad, MN.

The trip is designed to accomplish several educational goals. Primarily it is used as an opportunity to introduce existing and potential customers to the Marvin Window and Door line and all the different products offered. It is also very useful for customers with some familiarity with the product, but are not aware of all of Marvin’s capabilities. Lastly it is a great opportunity for people who regularly sell the product to reacquaint themselves with the line, and learn about products and capabilities that they may not have known about.

The event is a mixture of classroom presentation and factory tours. The classroom component focuses on the entire Marvin and Integrity product lines. The classrooms have working displays of all of Marvin and Integrity windows and doors which allow participants to discuss the products and to operate them. The factory tour component shows how the windows are made. The construction process begins at one end of the building with raw wood and is completed at the other end of the building with finished products on the loading dock waiting to be shipped to construction projects all over the world.

The highlight of the factory tour is a trip through the “Marvin Signature Products Room.” This is where napkin sketches of custom windows become reality. Marvin is able to replicate, with incredible accuracy, windows and doors that maintain the required historic authenticity of a building project.

Preston Feather annually hosts the Marvin Factory trip for builders and architects within their service area. For additional information, please contact either Kent Strawderman, 989-732-8862, extension 4408, or Andy Herman, 231-439-5821.
