Sales Support Team

Rose Volkening, Petoskey

Rose Volkening

Rose Volkening is the first friendly face you see in Petoskey as you enter the store. Her goal is to make our customers smile! She has been the store’s cashier since 2002. Rose also assists the store with answering phones, receiving merchandise and filing paperwork. Her motto “Just do it!” like her favorite Nike shoes. Although Rose is crazy about the people she meets and those she works with, some days she’d rather be on a beach in Hawaii. She grew up in Petoskey, attending school there, raised three daughters and held other retail positions before joining Preston Feather Building Centers. When she’s not at work, she enjoys visits with her family, her two dogs, needlework and reading.

Peggy Moore, Petoskey

Peggy Moore

Peggy has been working with the sales team in the Petoskey Showroom since 1999, “doing a little bit of everything.” She coordinates the Andersen truckload orders, answers the phone, and orders replacement parts for doors and windows. Peggy enjoys the possibility that each day will bring a new challenge. “Working with warranty and service means that there will be the challenge of finding an old part for a window or door. It’s a great feeling when you can locate a part for a customer who thought it was a lost cause because of the age of the unit.” She grew up in Emmet County graduating from Alanson Littlefield and has recently earned an Associates Degree in Business Management from Davenport University. When she’s not working or studying, Peggy enjoys time with her husband and three children, scrapbooks and genealogy.

Shari Rivest, Gaylord

Shari Rivest

Shari Rivest’s motto is “Smile – life is too short to be crabby!” As you enter the Gaylord store you will instantly see she practices her smile always. Shari works with paperwork and people. She tries to help the sales staff with anything they need and make sure the customers are taken care of.

Customer service is a passion of Shari’s, “I’m a golden rule kind of girl, I know how I want and expect to be treated, and then I go from there, always with a smile.”

She enjoys Preston Feather Building Centers because it feels like family and that everything positive that you do is noticed and appreciated. She also enjoys the customers and the people she works with, “It’s nice to know I can make people smile over the phone.”

When Shari is not at Preston Feather you’ll find her doing just about anything with her two kids including volunteering at a variety of community organizations, gardening or fishing. And you know she’ll be smiling every minute.

Anne Farnsworth, Harbor Springs

Anne Farnsworth

Growing and nurturing is what Anne Farnsworth does best. At work she nurtures the contractor sales staff, freeing up their time so they can get out to the jobsites and do what they do best. In her free time, Anne is a Master Gardner nurturing her gardens.

When Anne joined Preston Feather, she had spent the ten best years of her career nurturing her two sons while they were little. She has other experiences as an Office manager for a pharmaceutical manufacturer; she worked for a glass shop and spent some time in radio, another job which she loved.

Describing her family, “I’ve been married to Ted for almost 34 years. Our son Andrew works with Ted in the family electrical contracting business. Son Matt lives in southern Michigan with his wife and daughter. They are expecting a new baby around New Years.”

Anne’s free time is spent traveling with Ted, reading, and walking the dog. She tries to spend time each day in her gardens which include over 200 different roses. In winter you can find Anne on line at the Garden Web Forums, preparing for the next growing season.

Sabrina and Tina, Harbor Springs

Walk in the front door of Preston Feather Building Centers’ Harbor Springs store and more than likely either Sabrina Byron or Tina Pinney will be there to greet you.

Sabrina’s friendly approach to customers helps them feel comfortable and at home. She is always eager to help customers find who they might need and what they might need, treating everyone the way she would expect to be treated if she were the customer. Sabrina has been with Preston Feather since 1997. She most likes the friends she has made while working - both customers and co-workers. Sabrina especially enjoys the jokes and funny conversations of all the people she encounters.

The walls of the Harbor store display many of the artworks created by Sabrina over the years. She has earned many awards of merit and excellence for her paintings. One of her works of art was included in a special exhibit organized by Cranbrook Institute of Science and traveled for one year visiting every state museum in Michigan.

When she’s not working at Preston Feather or creating lovely objects of art, Sabrina volunteers as a Band Mom, works with the annual Home Builders Show and paints birdhouses for the annual Habitat for Humanity auction. Sabrina also finds lots of time to spend with her husband and son at their newly built home in Harbor Springs.

Tina has been with Preston Feather since 1999, joining the company with sales and management experience. Currently Tina does a bit of everything at Harbor Springs including sales, assisting other salespeople, computer and filing work and she serves as the safety officer.

Cheerful is a good description of Tina, and her life motto is, “You choose your attitude.” Although she’d often rather be in Hawaii, Tina believes the customer always comes first and she loves everything about her job, especially several co-workers who make her laugh throughout the day.

When she’s not at Preston Feather Building Centers, Tina enjoys spending time with her family exclaiming, “My family is my life!” Her husband is a painter and they are parents to two sons, one attending Western Michigan University, the other Petoskey High School. In addition to gardening and canning, she participates in lots of outdoor activities; the beach, canoeing, and biking.

We will be known as a business whose entire staff will always make the effort required to meet and at every opportunity, to exceed our customers expectations in a cheerful and efficient manner.
