New Warehouse in Petoskey
by Tim Lancaster
The lumber storage area in the Petoskey store is going to change for the better. The plan for a new 10,000 square foot, two-level storage warehouse has been approved. To make room, demolition and removal of two older sheds will be taking place over the next couple of weeks. We have relocated the inventory from these sheds to other areas of the yard. We’re hopeful that construction of the new warehouse can begin in April and be completed by Memorial Day.
While this is an exciting project for us, we are committed to ensuring your service level in our stores will be uncompromised. We will stay focused on getting the right product to your job site when you want it. During this time, every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing smoothly and any time spent picking material up to a minimum.
When this project is complete, we’re confident that the movement and storage of material will be greatly improved. This will help to ensure the highest level of quality by keeping more products covered and out of the elements. By opening up the middle of the yard, the loading and unloading of semi-trailers and trucks should not interfere with customer pick-ups.
We’re very excited about the potential of this new warehouse facility and we thank you in advance for your understanding as we get through the remodeling process.
Introducing PAULOWNIA
Paulowina is a soft hardwood native to China. The heartwood is light in color and the sapwood even lighter. The wood is without odor and is mostly free from knots. The wood is straight grained and lustrous.
Paulownia boards, pattern stock and bevel siding products are all 16’ lengths. The manufacturing process utilizes state-of-the-art finger-jointing and edge-gluing technologies, delivering a consistent and fine appearance for any paint or solid color stain application.
The product is then primed 4-sides and both ends and after drying is sanded 4-sides with 180 grit sandpaper delivering a superior finish, ready for final coating.
Paulowina is easy to work using hand or machine tools. It is easy to plane, sand, saw, rip, route or carve. It easily absorbs glue, paint and stains.
